Individual Psychotherapy

Sharon Child Psychology offers individual psychotherapy services to children and teens. Deena, a child clinical psychologist with many years of experience, provides a safe and comfortable environment for children to express themselves and work through their challenges. With a focus on evidence-based treatments, Deena utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches to help children and teens build coping skills and improve their mental health. Depending on the needs of the child, Deena will use Play Therapy and/or Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help the child develop the tools they need to recognize their strengths and be able to thrive at home and in school.

Deena believes that through play, children can learn to express their emotions and have the opportunity to cotrol over their environment. Play is a natural medium through which children can communicate and form a trusting bond with their therapist. Play therapy is about giving children a safe space to explore what it feels like to be in control. This allows children to self-discover through play and find their own voice within the room.

Through the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Deena helps her clients to understand the relationship between their emotions, thoughts, and actions. She helps them to recognize a range of emotions, what triggers those emotions, and what they are thinking at the time. With a focus on problem solving, growth mindset, and relaxation, she helps clients to have a positive outlook and react appropriately. Together Deena and the client build strategies so that they are better able to regulate their emotions.
